The Run Nike Women Series was created in 2013 after expanding into its first inaugural half marathon in Washington DC and continued for a second year in 2014.
With a unique course running through our nation's historic monuments, 15,000 runners took on 13.1 miles through the city. Runners were welcomed to a 3-day expotique with race day essentials from both Nike and sponsors such as Bare Minerals, Luna, Nuun and Paul Mitchell, each set up with a custom backdrop design. The organization that brings these women together, Team in Training, showcased a custom backdrop that was designed with 1,200 photos showcasing honorees and survivors of blood cancers. The expotique was set in the center of Georgetown on the waterfront with 'We Run' letters leading to the entrance.
Ellie Goulding ran the half marathon with 15,000 of her favorite fans and also hosted a private concert for Nike+ and NTC app super users the night before the big day. The private event was designed with entrance banners and gobos flanking the stage.
